Benoît Delille

Head of Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Protection Department (HSE)

Benoît Delille worked for six years in Belgium’s private sector, first as manager of a Mechanical Design Office at ENGIE Fabricom, followed by experience at the aerospace company SONACA.

He joined CERN’s Safety Commission in 2002 as a Mechanical Safety Engineer, assessing the structural reliability of equipment for CERN’s accelerators and experimental areas during the construction of the LHC.

In 2010, he joined CERN’s Human Resources Department as HR Advisor to the Technology Department (400 staff), supporting managers in the application of HR policies and contributing to HR strategies, particularly in contract policy and workforce planning.

In 2014, he became Executive Officer to CERN’s Director for Accelerators and Technology, preparing negotiations and arbitration exercises and supporting the implementation and budgeting of administrative and technical measures. In parallel, he led the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) Project Budget Office, introducing Earned Value Management (EVM) methods to assess cost and schedule performance and report the project’s financial situation across the Organization.

Building on his technical, administrative and financial experience across CERN, Benoît Delille became Head of CERN’s HSE Department in January 2021.
